A group of young students from Tripura is set to meet the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi during a special Raksha Bandhan programme on August 28.
The School Education Department has finalised a seven-member delegation led by Abhijit Samajpati, State Nodal Officer for the Raksha Bandhan Festival at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The team will also include teachers Biswajit Bhowmik and Biplab Deb, along with four students selected from West Tripura district.
The students—Meheresia Sarkar, Pratik Sarkar, Rike Deb and Amit Kumar Sarkar—are from Netajinagar English Medium SB School. Aged between 10 and 11 years, they are studying in different classes.
The delegation was selected on the basis of final nominations received from the District Education Officer, West Tripura. During the visit, the students will also showcase Tripura’s rich cultural heritage at the special programme.
