UDALGURI-SONITPUR, Aug, 30: The Assam Transport Department has set a target of collecting Rs 2,500 crore in revenue during the 2026-27 financial year and is expected to intensify enforcement and revenue collection drives across the state.
The decision was taken at a review meeting held at the Udalguri District Commissioner’s Office on August 28 in the presence of Transport Minister Charan Boro. The Transport Commissioner, Secretary and senior departmental officials, along with Transport Officers from the five districts under the Bodoland Territorial Region, attended the meeting. Officials from other districts joined virtually.
Revenue collection and road safety were among the key issues discussed during the meeting. The department is expected to launch a statewide drive focusing on compliance with transport regulations, revenue collection and road safety.
While the administration had earlier set a target of Rs 2,100 crore for the department during 2026-27, Boro said the Transport Department had fixed the higher target of Rs 2,500 crore.
