GUWAHATI: A suspected cannabis smuggler was arrested during a police operation in the Basistha area of Guwahati, officials said.
The arrested person was identified as Pradip Pal, a resident of Sivasagar. Police allegedly recovered cannabis from his possession and seized a two-wheeler reportedly used for transporting the contraband.
Police alleged that Pal had been involved in the illegal transportation of cannabis for a prolonged period.
An investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify others allegedly linked to the smuggling network.
