Assam Police Seize 80,000 Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 16 Crore in Cachar

Assam Police seized around 80,000 Yaba tablets worth an estimated Rs 16 crore during an anti-narcotics operation at Moynagarh in Cachar district.

Acting on specific information on Sunday, a police team intercepted a luxury vehicle and recovered the narcotics allegedly concealed in a specially created hidden compartment. Police said the consignment was being transported from Mizoram through Cachar for onward movement to another state.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das. The driver, Shamsul Hussain Laskar, was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the source and destination of the consignment and identify the wider network allegedly involved in the interstate trafficking of narcotics.
