The Udalguri district committee of the All Assam Former ULFA Unity Forum has been formed, with Dhajendra Das elected as president and Ratan Deka as general secretary at a general meeting held in Udalguri on September 2.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of Aastha NGO and was attended by senior office-bearers of the forum, including adviser Pranjit Saikia, secretary Dhruva Sandikoi, vice-presidents Bhaskar Bordoloi and Rongmon Kinkar Goswami, treasurer Jibon Baruah and publicity secretary Riyaz Khan.
Kabita Choudhury was elected working president, while Muktaram Deka, Hareshwar Sharma, Bijay Rabha and Jyotish Barman were elected vice-presidents. Karuna Deka, Bireswar Rabha and Biren Saikia were appointed secretaries.
The meeting also constituted office-bearers for cultural, finance, organisational, information and publicity, office, sports and advisory positions. Members discussed the forum’s organisational activities and future programmes in the interest of the Assamese community.
