Kohima: The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has announced that the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2026 will now be held from November 2 to 14 at Chümoukedima and Dimapur. The Games were earlier scheduled for April but were postponed. The revised programme is being organised with the proposed 4th North East Games 2026 in mind, while also taking into account the available infrastructure and resources. The NOPG will feature nine disciplines: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, football, pencak silat, taekwondo and wushu. Events in most disciplines will be conducted for both men and women, while football will be held in the men’s category.

Contingents will be formed on the basis of Nagaland’s 17 districts. The NOA said separate competition notifications would be issued to the respective sports associations. Electronic registration of players and teams will begin on October 1, with October 15 set as the deadline for submitting player and official registrations. The association has clarified that no changes to registered names will be allowed after the registration process is completed.
The Games Organising Committee will arrange accommodation, local transportation, food and technical facilities for participants and officials in the host cities. Arrival and departure schedules will be announced separately. The NOPG is expected to provide a major platform for athletes from across Nagaland to compete at the state level and prepare for larger regional sporting events. The revised schedule marks a fresh push to conduct the state’s Olympic and Paralympic Games after the earlier April edition was postponed.
