GUWAHATI, Sept 6: The Assam Excise Department seized 800 cartons of liquor allegedly sourced from Meghalaya during an operation at Nine Mile in Guwahati.
Officials intercepted a truck carrying the consignment after finding that it was allegedly being transported without valid documents.
The authorities detained the truck driver, Sabbir Khan, and handyman Akbar in connection with the seizure. The duo was questioned to gather information about the source and intended destination of the liquor.
The Excise Department initiated legal proceedings in connection with the seizure, while further investigation into the alleged illegal transportation of the liquor was underway.
