GANGTOK, Sept 6: A total of 54,209 electors were excluded from Sikkim’s Final Electoral Roll 2026 following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), according to Election Commission figures.
Of the total exclusions, 37,724 electors fell under the Absentee, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) categories, including those who did not submit Enumeration Forms to their respective Booth Level Officers. The ASDD category comprised 10,837 deceased electors, 14,603 permanently shifted electors, 8,648 absent or untraceable electors, 2,396 duplicate or already enrolled entries and 1,253 cases under other categories.
During the Claims and Objections period from July 5 to August 4, the Election Commission received 16,867 objections through Form 7, 2,052 claims for new inclusion through Form 6 and 1,549 claims for correction or shifting through Form 8.
Following verification, authorities deleted 16,809 electors, including 16,485 on grounds of ineligibility and 324 due to death or shifting. A total of 1,982 new electors were added.
The final electorate consequently declined by 14,827, or 3.42 per cent, from the previous Draft Electoral Roll.
Published on September 6, the final roll recorded 4,18,467 electors, comprising 2,12,534 males, 2,05,931 females and two third-gender electors.
