DHUBRI, Sept 7: Chapar police arrested Rakesh Nag, son of Chapar Municipal Board vice-chairman Arun Kumar Nag, in connection with an alleged fraud case.
Police reportedly launched an operation on Sunday night and apprehended Rakesh before taking him to Chapar police station.
On Monday, police produced him before a court in connection with Chapar PS Case No. 133/26, registered on charges of fraud and cheating. The court reportedly remanded him to three days of police custody to facilitate further investigation and collection of evidence.
Rakesh had earlier been sent to judicial custody in connection with a case involving the alleged theft of foreign liquor.
The police action was welcomed by members of the public.
