Tangkhul Group Condemns Killing of Manipuri Musician in Delhi

The Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) has condemned the killing of Manipuri musician Chongtham Vikram following an alleged assault in Kilokri, New Delhi, and called for a swift and impartial investigation.

In a statement, the organisation said it was shocked and saddened by Vikram’s death and described the incident as a serious act of violence. It said the killing was particularly disturbing as Vikram was reportedly assaulted after appealing for peace and consideration in his neighbourhood.

TKLD urged the Delhi Police and other concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, identify all those responsible and prosecute them in accordance with the law.

The organisation also expressed concern over the safety of people from the Northeast living in the national capital, stressing the need for authorities to ensure that residents could live without fear of violence or intimidation.

TKLD expressed solidarity with Vikram’s family, friends and members of the Manipuri and wider Northeast communities and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family.

The killing has renewed concerns among Northeast communities in Delhi over their safety and the need for effective mechanisms to address violence and ensure prompt legal action.
