Sonapur: The “E” Company of the 1st Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sonapur, organised a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programme at Lokhra on Tuesday to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and substance addiction. The programme was organised under the guidance of Sunil Kaushik, Commandant, 1st Battalion SSB, Sonapur, with the participation of local residents and youth.

During the awareness programme, participants were sensitised to the harmful effects of drug abuse and addiction. Speakers highlighted the physical, mental and social consequences associated with substance abuse and urged young people to remain away from drugs. The participants were encouraged to adopt a healthy, disciplined and productive lifestyle and contribute towards creating a drug-free environment in their communities.
The programme also stressed the need for collective action involving security forces, local communities and the youth to address the growing challenge of substance abuse. The SSB emphasised that sustained awareness and community participation are essential for preventing drug addiction and protecting young people from its harmful effects.
The initiative formed part of efforts to strengthen awareness about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which focuses on reducing substance abuse through awareness, community participation and preventive measures. The national campaign has continued to emphasise the role of young people and communities in building a drug-free India.
