Assam has extended the regular teaching schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 students following disruptions caused by recent floods and ongoing Census-related activities, with board examination dates to be announced later.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the decision after the state school education authorities issued a special notice. Under the revised schedule, Class 10 classes will continue until February 22, 2027, while Class 12 classes will remain in session until March 8, 2027.
The authorities said the decision took into account difficulties faced by students and educational institutions in flood-affected areas, as well as the deployment of government machinery for Census-related activities.
The revised teaching schedule will affect the state’s board examination calendar. Dates for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination and Higher Secondary Final Examination will be announced later.
The examination schedules will be finalised after considering the extended period of regular classroom teaching, the authorities said.
The move is intended to provide students affected by the disruptions with adequate classroom instruction before they appear for their board examinations.
