Second Murder in 48 Hours: Man Hacks Son-in-Law to Death in Dhakuakhana, Surrenders

DHAKUAKHANA, Sept 9: A man allegedly hacked his son-in-law to death following a prolonged family dispute at Naltoli Raghupathar village under Ghilamara Police Station on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Hem Gohain, allegedly attacked his son-in-law Budhi Baruah, locally known as Bholok, with a sharp machete during a domestic dispute. Baruah died at the spot.

After the incident, Gohain allegedly went to Ghilamara Police Station carrying the blood-stained weapon and surrendered before police. He also confessed to the crime, police sources said.

On receiving information, a police team reached the village and recovered the body. Police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A magisterial inquiry was also initiated.

The incident was the second reported murder in Dhakuakhana within 48 hours, causing concern among local residents. Police were interrogating the accused as part of the investigation.
