IMPHAL, Sept 14: Security forces arrested three alleged active members of proscribed insurgent groups during separate operations in Imphal West district of Manipur on September 13, officials said.
A team of the Combined Dedicated Operations-IW (CDO-IW), acting on intelligence corroborated by 31 Assam Rifles, arrested alleged KCP (PWG) cadre Thangjam Sanatomba Singh, 26, alias Thembung, from Moidangpok.
In another operation, CDO-IW personnel, acting on intelligence corroborated by 33 Assam Rifles, arrested Sanjenbam Albert Meetei, 26, alias Lukhoi, from Takyel Khongbal Leirak Achouba. Officials identified him as an active member of KCP (Apunba) and alleged that he was involved in extortion.
The CDO-IW team also arrested Khongbantabam Inao Singh, 48, alias Iboyaima, from the Patsoi Unik-Khong Bazar area. He was identified as a member of PRE-PAK (PRO) and was allegedly involved in extortion.
Security personnel recovered Rs 18,500 in cash and a mobile handset during the operations. Further investigation into the activities and alleged links of the arrested individuals was underway.
