HOJAI, Sept 16: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Monday expressed confidence that his party would win the upcoming Nagaon by-election, while claiming that the BJP and Congress would lose the contest.
Speaking in Hojai on Monday, Ajmal said the BJP focused on Hindus, while the Congress had failed to address the concerns of both Hindus and Muslims. He said the AIUDF, instead, focused on “humanity”.
“We talk about humanity, so we are fully confident that we will win, and the other two parties (BJP and Congress) will lose,” Ajmal said.
Ajmal also announced that he would file his nomination for the Nagaon by-election at 10 am on September 16.
The AIUDF had earlier named Ajmal as its candidate for the by-election, setting up a contest involving the BJP, Congress and other parties.
