DHAKUAKHANA, Sept 20: A female student was found dead inside a rented house at Konwar Gaon in Dhakuakhana, prompting a police investigation.
The deceased was identified as Lakhimai Pathari, a student of the College of Teacher Education in Dhakuakhana. She had been staying as a tenant at the house of local resident Ajit Konwar.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and recovered the body late at night. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.
The exact cause of death remained unknown. Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, while it was yet to be established whether the incident involved any criminal act.
Authorities said the cause of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem examination and further investigation.
The incident cast a pall of gloom among the local community and the students and teaching staff of the college.
