Helipad Tarmac Sinks After President Droupadi Murmu’s Helicopter Lands in Kerala

Guwahati: A minor but alarming incident occurred on Wednesday when a helicopter carrying President Droupadi Murmu faced an unexpected situation at Pramadam Stadium in Kerala. Shortly after the aircraft landed, a portion of the helipad tarmac reportedly sank, creating a brief moment of concern during her ongoing four-day official visit to the state.

According to reports, the surface partially caved in moments after touchdown. Swift action by police and fire department personnel ensured safety, as they manually pushed the helicopter away from the affected area. No injuries or damage were reported, and the situation was brought under control promptly.

President Murmu is currently on an official visit to Kerala from October 21 to 24. During the trip, she is scheduled to offer prayers at the Sabarimala temple, among other engagements. She had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, where she was formally received by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying George Kurian.

The President’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle confirmed her arrival and welcomed the warm reception by the state officials. Authorities are expected to inspect the helipad to determine the cause of the surface collapse.
