DHAKUAKHANA, Sept 20: The ninth edition of ‘Gaurav Day’, commemorating the birth anniversary of late student leader Gaurav Gogoi, was observed at Dhakuakhana Higher Secondary School on Saturday.
The day-long programme was jointly organised by Gaurav Sanmilit Samaj and the Dibrugarh University Alumni Association, with cooperation from the 2009 alumni batch of the host school.
Gaurav Gogoi, a student leader associated with Cotton University and Dibrugarh University, died in 2018. The annual programme was organised to remember his ideals and inspire younger generations.
The event featured five academic lectures, a quiz competition and cultural performances. Several academicians, researchers and students participated in the programme.
Among those present were Dr Lakshyajit Buragohain, president of Gaurav Sanmilit Samaj; Ibharani Chamua, principal of Dhakuakhana Higher Secondary School; and Dr Pranjit Kalita, general secretary of the Dibrugarh University Alumni Association.
Scientists and professors from RMRC Dibrugarh, N.N. Saikia College, M.D.K. Girls’ College and Dibrugarh University delivered lectures during the programme. Dr Kriparjun Bora, Dr Amlan Pujari, Dr Chandanjyoti Chutia, Dr Pankaj Sahu and Dr Purba Jyoti Phukan were among the speakers.
The interactive sessions and quiz competition were conducted by Dr Joydeep Bora and Dr Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah.
