Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday urged voters to turn out in large numbers and cast their ballots without fear as polling continued for the Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Saha appealed to voters not to delay reaching their polling stations and to participate in the election without apprehension. “Do not delay. Come out of your homes and go to your respective polling stations and cast your votes without any apprehension,” he said.
The Chief Minister said he had spoken to the Director General of Police and was assured that adequate arrangements were in place for peaceful polling. He called for voting to take place in a “festive atmosphere” and urged people to participate in the democratic process without fear.
Saha also asked voters to make their choice independently rather than supporting any political party under pressure. “I will not say that everyone should vote for our party. Vote wherever you think it is right to vote according to your own choice,” he said.
He described voting as both a right and a duty and said the election would have implications for development in areas under the TTAADC. According to Saha, the elected representatives would be responsible for raising and addressing issues related to local development.
The Chief Minister urged voters to participate peacefully and exercise their democratic rights through the election.
