An Assam Rifles personnel was killed after a patrol team came under attack near the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Tuesday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, where personnel were patrolling an area close to ongoing border fencing work.
The deceased was identified as 42-year-old Havildar Jankhokai Kuki.
Preliminary information suggested that cadres of the NSCN-K-YA (Yung Aung faction) may have been behind the attack.
Security forces launched operations in the area following the incident to locate those responsible and secure the border region. Further details regarding the circumstances and exact location of the attack were awaited.
