Guwahati : The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Guwahati on Tuesday, with ACA President Taranga Gogoi presiding over the meeting. BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia attended the AGM as the Special Invitee. The meeting was attended by ACA Secretary Sanatan Das, Vice President Romen Dutta, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Anupam Deka, Apex Council member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya and representatives of affiliated district units. During the AGM, members approved the Secretary’s Report for 2025–26 and adopted the Treasurer’s Report and audited accounts for the period. The annual budget for 2026–27 was also passed, while the appointment of the auditor for the new financial year was confirmed.

Justice Manojit Bhuyan, Retired Judge of the Gauhati High Court, was appointed as the Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer. The AGM observed a one-minute silence in memory of Mukut Das, APL umpire panel member Sonjit Das and other pioneering figures of Assam cricket who have passed away. Members recalled their contributions to the development of cricket in the state. The meeting also discussed various aspects of cricket development in Assam, including player performances, infrastructure projects, player welfare and future development plans. Particular emphasis was placed on grassroots cricket, coaching and youth development programmes, talent identification and creating greater opportunities for players at different levels.
As part of the AGM proceedings, the APL Governing Council for the 2026–27 term was also constituted. Premananda Saikia (Ratul) and Nasir Gul Khan were inducted as members for a one-year term. The ACA reiterated its focus on strengthening grassroots cricket, improving coaching and youth talent identification programmes, expanding player opportunities and accelerating infrastructure development across the state. The association said it would continue to work with its affiliated members, district units, players, coaches and the wider cricketing community towards the sustained growth of cricket in Assam.
