BTC CEM aide Mahesh Brahma found hanging in Kokrajhar, police probe death

The body of 47-year-old Mahesh Brahma, who was reportedly associated with BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary as his personal assistant, was found hanging from a newly constructed railway flyover at Khargaon in Kokrajhar, prompting police to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Brahma’s body was found suspended by a rope from the flyover. Police and a magistrate reached the spot and recovered the body, which was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.

While the circumstances of the death remained unclear, some people raised suspicions that Brahma may have been killed and his body later hung from the flyover. His family members also maintained that he did not die by suicide.

BTC Executive Member Prakash Basumatary visited the site after the incident and urged police to conduct a detailed investigation at the spot to determine what led to Brahma’s death.

Police were examining the available evidence and other circumstances surrounding the incident. The post-mortem examination was expected to provide further information on the cause of death.

Brahma was reportedly associated with the cultural sector and was known to people familiar with him for his quiet and gentle nature. His death caused shock and concern among local residents and others in Kokrajhar.

The investigation was continuing, with the exact circumstances of Brahma’s death yet to be established.
