Assam cabinet adopts 75 resolutions recognising PM Modi’s contributions to state

The Assam cabinet on October 9 adopted 75 resolutions recognising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions to the development of Assam and the Northeast, highlighting changes in infrastructure, connectivity, industry, healthcare, education and security.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a special 90-minute cabinet meeting devoted exclusively to Modi’s 25 years in public service, spanning his tenure as Gujarat chief minister and his subsequent years as prime minister.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Sarma said improved security had paved the way for development, while stronger connectivity had widened opportunities and investment had created fresh economic prospects.

“Peace created the conditions for development, connectivity opened doors to opportunity, industry and investment created new economic possibilities, and healthcare and education strengthened human capabilities,” he said.

Sarma said the resolutions formally acknowledged the changes Assam had experienced during Modi’s years in public life, particularly since he assumed the office of prime minister.

He described the transformation as extending beyond economic expansion to social development, physical infrastructure, strategic importance and what he termed civilisational progress.

According to the chief minister, Assam was moving away from its traditional image as a distant frontier and emerging as a peaceful state equipped for investment, with improved connectivity and growing confidence.

He added that Assam was strengthening its role as a gateway to the Northeast and contributing to the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
