Guwahati Police issue Durga Puja guidelines, mandate CCTV at pandals

Guwahati Police have issued a set of guidelines for Durga Puja celebrations, making CCTV cameras mandatory at all puja venues and imposing restrictions on loud music, security arrangements and crowd movement to ensure public safety.

Under the guidelines, puja committees cannot play loud music through microphones after 10 pm. They must also ensure that volunteers remain present at pandals throughout the night, with trained personnel deployed to assist with security and crowd management.

Police personnel will monitor pandals in plain clothes, while separate entry and exit routes for men and women must be arranged to regulate the movement of visitors.

The police have warned of strict action against people found consuming alcohol during the celebrations. Motorcycle riders and pillion passengers must also wear helmets.

Special arrangements have been made for Durga idol immersion at Pandu and Lachit Ghat.

The guidelines require puja committees and visitors to follow the prescribed rules to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations across the city.
