A complaint over the alleged reckless driving of an Assam Police 112 emergency response vehicle near Jatinga in Dima Hasao district has prompted calls for an official examination of video footage showing the incident.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 1.15 pm on October 18, when the police Bolero was heading towards Haflong. A motorcycle rider captured the episode on video, according to information provided by a concerned citizen.
The complainant alleged that the vehicle was driven dangerously and that an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers narrowly avoided a collision. The footage was subsequently shared with a news channel, along with a request for the authorities to investigate the driver’s conduct.
The complaint has raised questions about adherence to traffic rules by personnel operating emergency response vehicles. Authorities have been urged to verify the footage and establish whether any violations occurred. The driver’s conduct and any potential action against them remain subject to the outcome of an inquiry.
