MORIGAON, Oct 21: Police arrested a woman and seized eight containers of suspected drugs during an operation in Hahchara village in Assam’s Morigaon district.
The accused, identified as Kulsum Bibi, was apprehended by a team from Bheluguri Police Station led by Officer-in-Charge Mridul Pal on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking. The nature and quantity of the suspected substances seized were yet to be confirmed.
The arrest comes amid concerns over alleged drug trafficking in the Lahorighat and Moirabari areas, where residents have called for increased police surveillance and intensified operations to curb the illegal trade.
