Bhagavat Procession Marks Srimanta Sankardev’s 578th Birth Anniversary in Dhakuakhana

A Bhagavat procession and cultural rally were organised at Bordoi Chutia Kari village in Assam’s Dhakuakhana to mark the 578th birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev alongside the annual Bhaona festival.

Organised by the Chutia Kari Village Development Committee with the support of local residents, the procession featured men and women dressed in traditional white attire, chanting Harinam and accompanying the march with khol-taal, drums and conch shells. Participants moved through the locality, spreading the spiritual teachings and ideals of the Vaishnavite saint.

The organisers said the initiative aimed to familiarise the younger generation with Sankardev’s cultural legacy and promote unity and brotherhood.

A Bhaona titled Sri Sri Bhagavat Darshan, featuring local child artists, was scheduled to be staged in the evening as part of the celebrations. Local residents, youths and elders participated in the procession.
