At least four cadres were reportedly killed and another injured in a gunfight between the Zeliangrong United Front (Jenchui faction), or ZUF(J), and the NSCN-IM in Manipur’s Noney district early on Wednesday, November 4.
According to sources, the exchange of fire broke out around 3.30 am at Taodaijang under Nungba Police Station limits. Initial reports suggested that the casualties included one person from one side and three from the other.
One person was also reportedly injured, while firing continued in the area after the initial confrontation, raising concerns over further escalation.
Police personnel had not reached the spot at the time of the reports, and the situation remained unclear.
The circumstances leading to the gunfight, the identities of those killed and the exact number of casualties were yet to be officially confirmed. Further details were awaited.
