Tripura Forms Panel to Examine Merger of Low-Enrolment Schools in TTAADC Areas

The Tripura government has constituted a high-level committee to examine the merger of schools with low student enrolment into well-equipped residential institutions across the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), aiming to improve educational facilities in the region.

According to an official notification issued by the Education (School) Department on Friday, the committee will assess school consolidation, the relocation of students to better-equipped residential institutions and the rationalisation of teaching staff to ensure effective deployment across the council areas.

The panel will be headed by the Secretary of the School Education Department and include senior officials from the TTAADC, Home Department, Directorate of Elementary Education and SCERT.

Welcoming the move, Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma described it as a first step towards building a developed and prosperous TTAADC. He said the initiative followed discussions with the concerned authorities and reiterated that establishing quality residential schools across the council areas remained a key priority for his party.

Pradyot said the demand for better residential educational institutions had been raised with the state and central governments over the past two years. He stressed that children in tribal areas deserved better infrastructure, quality learning environments and opportunities to compete at the highest levels.
