Guwahati: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Assam on November 9 to attend a grand Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Show in Guwahati, featuring an impressive line-up of 150 aircraft, including Rafale, Sukhoi, and MiG fighter jets.
The spectacular event will be held at Lachit Ghat, along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, where the skies are set to dazzle with a powerful demonstration of aerial precision and prowess.
Announcing the visit, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “On November 9, the Union Defence Minister will attend a mega Air Show at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati, wherein 150 planes of the Indian Air Force will display their strength — including Rafales, Sukhois, and MiGs.”
The show, part of the IAF’s Air Force Day celebrations in the Northeast, marks the first large-scale flying display of its kind in the region.
With the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise,” the event will underscore the IAF’s commitment to excellence, discipline, and operational readiness. The aerial demonstration will include frontline fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters flying in synchronised formations, showcasing the force’s technological sophistication and skill.
Officials stated that the Air Show aims to inspire youth across the Northeast to join the armed forces while fostering national pride and patriotism among spectators. Public viewing zones will be arranged along the Brahmaputra riverfront to allow citizens to witness the rare spectacle up close.
Before Rajnath Singh’s visit, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be in Assam on November 7 and 8 to inaugurate several major infrastructure projects, including the Guwahati Gateway Terminal, the Guwahati Riverfront Project, and to lay the foundation stone of Swahid Kanaklata Barua State University at Gohpur.
