Guwahati: On the 17th anniversary of the horrific bomb blasts that rocked Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, and Barpeta Road on October 30, 2008, the Ankuran Welfare Association (AWA) on Thursday organized a blood donation camp at Ganeshguri to honour the victims and promote the message of peace and humanity.
The event, titled ‘People for People’ – Against Terrorism, marked the fifth annual blood donation drive by AWA, symbolizing the association’s pledge to stand united against terrorism through an act of compassion. The initiative served as a heartfelt tribute to the innocent lives lost during the 2008 serial bomb blasts that shook Assam.

In addition to the blood donation camp, the organisation also conducted a tree plantation programme in memory of the artiste Zubeen Garg, celebrating his enduring love for nature and his advocacy for greenery. ‘Nahor Puli’ saplings were distributed among participants as a tribute to Zubeen Garg.
Among the guests present at the event was Sikhamoni Borkotoky, winner of the Mega Fashion Show organized by Naba Prabhat in association with Nava Prabhat Institute of Fashion Technology (NPIFT). The noble initiative, led by Rahul Ranjan Basisth and his team, earned wide appreciation for their continuous efforts towards social welfare and community service.
