Morigaon to Host 5,000-Voice Tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika

Morigaon: In a heartfelt homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, a grand tribute event will be held in Morigaon district on November 5, marking his death anniversary. The highlight of the occasion will be a mass chorus of 5,000 participants singing Hazarika’s timeless classic “Manuhe Manuhor Babe”, echoing his enduring message of humanity, unity, and compassion.

Preparations for the event were reviewed at a press conference held at the Morigaon Deputy Commissioner’s office, chaired via video conference by Deputy Commissioner Anamika Tiwari. The DC said the tribute, to be held at the Tarun Ram Phukan Playground, aims to inspire the younger generation with Dr. Hazarika’s ideals of empathy, inclusivity, and brotherhood.

The day’s programme will include floral tributes at Hazarika’s statue, a memorial gathering, and discussions on his life and artistic contributions, celebrating his role as one of Assam’s greatest cultural icons.

Calling upon residents to participate, DC Tiwari said the event symbolizes an opportunity to reaffirm Hazarika’s vision of an Assam “where man is for man.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nitisha Bora outlined the day’s schedule and ongoing preparations, while District Development Commissioner Arpa Baglari, senior officials, and members of the press also attended the meeting.

Officials expressed confidence that the tribute would stand as a landmark cultural moment for Morigaon district and the people of Assam.
