Guwahati: The Guwahati Traffic Police has announced an extensive traffic advisory in view of the Indian Air Force Day Flypast scheduled for November 9, with rehearsals to take place on November 5, 6, and 8 at Lachit Ghat, Panbazar. The advisory aims to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the high-profile event, which will see large gatherings and the presence of VIPs and dignitaries.
Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in effect on November 8 and 9 from 7 AM to 5 PM. During this period, commercial goods vehicles and heavy vehicles will not be permitted on key city routes, including H.B. Road, AT Road, DG Road, MG Road, B Baruah Road, and GNB Road. Slow-moving vehicles such as handcarts, rickshaws, and e-rickshaws will also be restricted between Machkhowa Point and the Chief Justice’s Bungalow Point along MG Road.
Only vehicles with valid car passes issued by the Indian Air Force will be allowed on the stretch of MG Road between Machkhowa Point and the Chief Justice’s Bungalow Point between 11 AM and 5 PM.
As per the diversion plan, vehicles from Bharalumukh heading towards Panbazar and Chandmari will be rerouted via H.B. Road or AT Road, while vehicles from Chandmari towards Panbazar and Bharalumukh will take AT Road through the Panbazar ROB. Light vehicles from Uzanbazar and Latasil heading towards Bharalumukh will be diverted via Lamb Road, F.C. Road, Tayebulla Point, and GNB Road.
Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, with vehicles bearing Red, Blue, and Yellow passes issued by the Indian Air Force allowed to park only in designated zones. No parking will be permitted along major city roads, including MG Road, FA Road, BRP Road, MLN Road, ARB Road, HB Road, and TRP Road. Additionally, parking of heavy vehicles and trucks will be prohibited on TRP Road, Lakhi Gali, Chamber Road, SRCB Road, SS Road, Kedar Road, and MS Road during the restricted period.
The Guwahati Traffic Police has appealed to commuters to plan their travel routes in advance and cooperate with officials to ensure the success of the event and the smooth management of traffic across the city.
