Itanagar: The first edition of the Monyul Super League, presented by Durex The Birds and Bees Talk and organised by the Tawang District Sports Association, was inaugurated today at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium, marking a historic moment for football in the Monyul region.
The grand event was attended by a galaxy of dignitaries, including Phurpa Tsering (MLA and Advisor to the Minister, PWD), Tsering Lhamu (MLA and Advisor to the Minister, Planning & WCD), Namgey Tsering (MLA, Tawang), Former MLA Tsering Tashi, football legend Bhaichung Bhutia, Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, Maj Gen Amit Nautiyal, Bollywood actress Daisy Shah, singer Supriya Pathak, and Dr. Komal Goswami, among others.

The ceremony began with a welcome address followed by the ceremonial kick-off by Bhaichung Bhutia, who lauded the initiative for nurturing young football talent in the region and pledged support from his academy.
Gaurav Jain, Executive Vice President, South Asia, Reckitt, highlighted the collaboration’s aim to empower youth through sports and life skills. MLA Namgey Tsering expressed gratitude to the organisers and partners for promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles among the youth.
Adding glamour to the evening, Supriya Pathak enthralled the audience with her soulful performance, joined by the Tani Daughters’ energetic dance act.
Featuring seven teams from Tawang and West Kameng, the league promises to showcase emerging talent and strengthen community spirit. The grand finale is scheduled for November 25, concluding the region’s most anticipated sporting event with pride and excitement.
