Buxar Elects BJP’s Anand Mishra as Counting Confirms Clear Win

Political Desk: The Buxar Assembly constituency, which went to polls on November 6, 2025, has delivered a decisive result after an intense day of counting. BJP candidate Anand Mishra has won the seat, marking a significant political shift in a constituency previously held by the Congress.

This year’s contest saw a strong lineup of candidates, including Anand Mishra (BJP), Tathagat Harsh Vardhan (Jan Suraaj Party) and Sanjay Kumar Tiwari alias Munna Tiwari (INC). In the 2020 elections, Congress’s Munna Tiwari secured victory by a narrow margin of 3,892 votes, defeating BJP’s Parshuram Chaubey.

Bihar registered a 57.3% voter turnout in 2025—slightly higher than in 2020—as major alliances, including the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan and the NDA (JD-U, BJP, and others), battled to shape the state’s political future.

His main opponent, INC’s Sanjay Kumar Tiwari, finished with 56,548 votes, marking a clear loss for the two-time MLA.

Mishra’s victory signals a major shift in voter sentiment in Buxar and strengthens the BJP’s position in the region as Bihar’s election results continue to unfold.
