Security Forces carried out major counter-insurgency operations in Manipur on 14 and 15 November, recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition and arresting an active militant involved in extortion.
During an operation on 15 November in the adjoining areas of Ngairangbam and Longa Koireng villages under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district, teams seized two single-barrel rifles, five pistols with magazines, five grenades, two locally made pipe bombs, 60 rounds of assorted ammunition, three hand-held communication sets, a bulletproof vest with two iron plates, and two helmets. Officials said the recovery was a significant setback to armed groups in the region and was expected to curb planned violent activities.
In a separate operation on 14 November, Security Forces apprehended an active cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA, identified as Moirangthem Ramesh Meitei, also known as Pari, Nanao and Ladhu, from his residence at Yairipok Bamon Leikai under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district. Investigations showed that he had been involved in extortion targeting government schools and colleges in several areas of Imphal East district. A mobile phone with a SIM card, suspected to have been used for extortion calls, was seized from him.
