A cycle rally organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) reached Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur early on 16 November after starting from the residence of music icon Zubeen Garg. The event was held as a tribute to the artist’s passion for fitness, cycling and sports.
Participants said the rally symbolically honoured the values Zubeen championed. One cyclist said they were paying tribute to him as he strongly supported fitness and sports, adding that it was their responsibility to keep that spirit alive.
Another participant noted that the rally was organised ahead of the singer’s birth anniversary as a mark of respect. After reaching Sonapur, the cyclists planted saplings and lit a diya at his cremation site.
The team also carried out ceremonial tree plantation at Zubeen Khetra and offered floral tributes and prayers. SAI members said Zubeen Garg’s advocacy for cycling, outdoor activities and physical well-being continued to inspire youth and sports enthusiasts across the region.
