A drug peddler was arrested and a small quantity of narcotic substances was seized in East Siang district as part of the ongoing crackdown under Operation Dawn 2.0. The targeted operation, conducted on November 15, led to the apprehension of Kadum Yomso of Sibo village, Pasighat.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) of East Siang carried out the operation under the leadership of ADS In-Charge DySP Ayup Boko. The team included SI K. Tangha, ASI (SG) K. Yomso, Ct. T. Ragyor and Ct. M. Rina (Driver), working in close coordination with Anti-Drug Warrior Pasighat Nini Tamin and his team.
During the search, authorities seized around 6.17 grams of suspected heroin and 1.97 grams of suspected ganja from the accused. The recovery was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and in the presence of independent witnesses.
Following the arrest, the accused and the seized items were handed over to Pasighat Police Station, where a case has been registered under PSGT/PS/C/No.99/2025, U/S 20(a)/21(b) of the NDPS Act. The investigation is currently in progress.
East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba, IPS, commended the team for their swift and coordinated action. Reaffirming the district’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking, he urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity, noting that community cooperation is vital to achieving a drug-free East Siang.
