Security forces launched a major anti-narcotics operation on Monday, November 17, in the Khudei Khullen hill range under Tengnoupal Police Station in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, clearing nearly 15 acres of illegal poppy cultivation.
Officials said the joint team carried out a day-long operation, during which the poppy crops were identified and uprooted as part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotics production in the region. The forces also destroyed a hut reportedly used by cultivators, a temporary irrigation system built to sustain the plantation, and three chemical spraying pumps found at the site.
Authorities confirmed that surveillance measures have been intensified in the area, with coordinated follow-up actions underway to prevent re-cultivation and trace those responsible for managing the illegal operation.
