Guwahati: The Assam Workers and Cultural Society in Chennai marked the birth anniversary of renowned Assamese singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg by organising a series of community service initiatives inspired by his humanitarian ideals.
In a tribute echoing Garg’s enduring commitment to social welfare, the organisation carried out charitable activities aimed at assisting vulnerable groups. Members of the Society donated essential food items to a Chennai-based orphanage, highlighting the late artist’s deep concern for children and the underprivileged.
The group also extended financial support to an Assamese patient undergoing treatment in a city hospital. According to the Society, the assistance reflected Garg’s compassionate approach to healthcare and his constant efforts to help those in distress.
“This was our humble way of honouring Zubeen da, who always upheld kindness, empathy and service to people in need,” said Manoj Kumar Sharma, President of the Assam Spiritual Society, Chennai, who attended the commemoration.
The organisers added that they plan to observe Zubeen Garg’s birth anniversary through similar acts of service in the coming years, ensuring that his legacy of compassion and social responsibility continues to motivate communities across regions.
