Itanagar: A dengue outbreak has been declared in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh, prompting health authorities to initiate urgent containment measures. The announcement was made through a circular issued on November 18 by District Medical Officer Dr. C. L. Manchay, who directed field teams to carry out misting, fogging and source-reduction activities in Tamla Nagar and Tribal Colony on November 19 at 3.30 pm.
The administration has stepped up public awareness campaigns on dengue symptoms, prevention and timely treatment, with information materials being distributed in local languages across the affected areas. Community engagement efforts, including meetings, mass blood-slide collection and a survey on the use of long-lasting insecticidal nets, have been scheduled as part of the response plan.
The DMO has called on Medical Officers, Panchayat leaders and local NGOs to work in close coordination to curb the spread of the disease. The circular has also been forwarded to senior district and state health officials for further action.
