Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar Chief Minister for Tenth Term

Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the tenth time on Monday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union Ministers and several NDA leaders attended the ceremony.

A total of 27 Ministers, including the Chief Minister, were sworn into the new Cabinet. From the BJP, Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Dilip Jaiswal, Mangal Pandey, Nitin Nabin and Ram Kripal Yadav took oath, while the JD(U) was represented by Leshi Singh, Shrawan Kumar, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Zama Khan and Ashok Chaudhary.

The NDA secured a decisive mandate in the recent Assembly elections, winning 202 of the 243 seats. The BJP claimed 89 seats, the JD(U) 85, the LJP(R) 19, the Hindustani Awam Morcha 5 and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha 4. The Mahagathbandhan managed 35 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nitish Kumar on assuming office, calling him an experienced administrator with a strong record of governance. He also conveyed his best wishes to Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, noting their grassroots experience. The Prime Minister praised the new Cabinet as a committed team geared to further Bihar’s progress.

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan extended his greetings to Nitish Kumar and the newly appointed Ministers, expressing confidence that their leadership would drive growth, good governance and inclusive development in the state.
