Major Cache of Arms Seized in Churachandpur as Security Forces Intensify Crackdown

Imphal: Security forces recovered a large stockpile of illegal weapons and warlike equipment during a search operation in the Bolneo area, around five kilometres from Ningthiching village under Henglep Police Station in Churachandpur district on Monday, November 24.

Officials said the seized items included seven modified projectile launchers, 11 locally made Pumpi projectile HE bombs, seven improvised single-barrel rifles, two country-made pistols, two pistol magazines, three live pistol rounds, and two Baofeng communication devices. The teams also recovered nine bulletproof jackets, six anklets, and nine ammunition pouches.

Authorities described the recovery as another significant breakthrough in the ongoing intensified operations aimed at curbing the circulation of illegal weapons in vulnerable zones across the state.

Security forces have increased area domination and continuous combing operations across multiple districts as part of broader efforts to restore stability. These operations have frequently led to the discovery of arms, ammunition, and communication systems hidden in remote locations.

Meanwhile, essential supplies continue to move safely along NH-37, with officials confirming that 318 vehicles transporting critical commodities travelled under strict security on Monday. Convoys remain deployed in sensitive stretches to prevent disruption.

To strengthen vigilance, a total of 112 checkpoints have been set up across both hill and valley regions. No detentions were reported during Monday’s inspections, according to officials.
