Retired IAS officer Hitesh Dev Sarma reported to Pathsala Police Station on Tuesday after being summoned in connection with allegations that he threatened journalist Rana Deka and the reporter’s eight-year-old child over the phone.
Police sources said officers visited Sarma’s residence on 23 November and issued a formal notice directing him to appear for questioning. He complied with the summons and reached the station earlier today.
Upon arrival, Sarma faced multiple questions from the media regarding the allegations but refused to make any comment.
Police confirmed that interrogation had begun, with investigators examining the complaint and the alleged phone call at the centre of the case. Further action is expected based on the findings.
