Dhubri Police arrested seven individuals after uncovering a suspected illegal gambling operation in the Hariarkuti area under the jurisdiction of Gauripur police station late on Monday, November 24. The arrests followed a tip-off that prompted a swift and targeted raid by law enforcement.
During the operation, officers seized gambling-related items along with ₹1,500 in cash from the scene. Police sources indicated that although the amount recovered was small, the racket is believed to have been active for an extended period and may have been handling transactions amounting to several lakh rupees.
Four of the arrested individuals have been identified as Saiful Rahman, Saidul Pradhan, Monishur Islam and Saminur Islam. The remaining three detainees are reportedly likely to be released on notice, a development that has triggered speculation among residents regarding possible preferential treatment.
Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine whether more individuals are linked to the alleged gambling network. Further action is expected once additional evidence or connections are established.
