Guwahati: S. A. Safdar, retired employee of NF Railways and former Assam Ranji Trophy player, passed away today in Allahabad (Prayagraj) following a cardiac arrest. He was 80.
Safdar is fondly remembered for his dedicated professional service as well as his remarkable contribution to cricket in Assam. He represented the state in eight Ranji Trophy matches, making his First-Class debut in the 1968–69 season and continuing his cricketing career till 1976–77. His commitment to the game and sportsmanship earned him the respect of teammates and cricket lovers across the state.He is survived by his son and daughter.
