KCP MFL Cadres Arrested in Manipur for Online Bomb Threat Targeting Sangai Festival 2025

Manipur Police, working closely with the Assam Rifles, have arrested three active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Formation Lotus – KCP MFL) in connection with a video that threatened to bomb the ongoing Sangai Festival 2025. The arrests were made following a Facebook video posted on 21 November by a user identifying as “Metei Lanmi Naotyboy,” in which a threat was issued against the internationally acclaimed cultural event.

The first arrest was made at Okram Chuthek in Imphal East, where police detained 31-year-old Laishram Sonia Devi for her alleged role in extortion activities linked to the outfit. Shortly after, authorities apprehended 22-year-old Salam Luwangnganba Meetei, also known as Ibungo, from Tera Sadokpam Leikai. The third accused, 29-year-old Phamdom Phampok Meitei, also known as Ajay or Abungcha, was picked up from Wangjing Bazar in Thoubal district. Police said he was involved in planning to hurl grenades at the festival venue.

Investigators confirmed that all three individuals were directly connected to the online threat and were actively plotting to disrupt the high-profile festival. The arrests are part of an intensified security response aimed at ensuring the event’s safety amid heightened concerns.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the conspiracy and identify any additional associates involved in the planned attack.
