Iter Bam Elected Unopposed as Youngest Zilla Parishad Member From Basar Segment

Iter Bam of New Bam Village has been elected unopposed as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) from the 11A Basar Zilla Segment, marking her emergence as the youngest representative to hold the position in the region.

At 29, Bam brings an impressive academic background to public office, holding a BA (Honours) and MA in History, a B.Ed, and a Diploma in Yoga. Her uncontested victory is widely viewed as a strong expression of trust from the community, reflecting confidence in her abilities and commitment to public welfare.

The development has generated enthusiasm across the Basar region, with many residents welcoming her election as a positive step toward encouraging youth participation in governance. Her supporters believe her educational achievements and fresh perspective will help energise development initiatives at the grassroots level.

Community members have also recalled the legacy of her late father, Er. Dagi Bam, who was respected for his contributions to local welfare. Many see her rise as a continuation of his values and expressed hope that she will uphold his principles while working for inclusive growth in the area.

Bam will formally assume office soon. Her tenure is expected to focus on strengthening participatory governance, enhancing public welfare measures and accelerating development within the Basar Zilla Segment.

Her unopposed election has drawn praise from various parts of Arunachal Pradesh, celebrated as an inspiring milestone that encourages more young people—particularly women—to take on leadership roles in local governance.
