Manipur BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would return to power in the next state assembly elections, expected in 2027.
Speaking during a programme at his residence in the Heirok constituency, the former police officer said there should be no doubts about the party’s prospects. He told supporters that although some people believed the BJP would fail to form the next government, the party would “certainly return” and lead the state once again.
Singh argued that the organisation was not to blame for recent challenges, remarking that only specific individuals had contributed to the party’s setbacks. He compared the situation to a vehicle suffering due to an unskilled driver, stating that the fault lay not with the vehicle itself but with the person handling it.
He maintained that the BJP had “not done anything wrong” and continued to remain strong in Manipur. The MLA emphasised that only a few leaders had caused damage to the state, distancing the party from their actions.
His remarks came at a time when Manipur had been facing extended unrest and political uncertainty, with opposition parties questioning the BJP’s ability to restore order. Despite this, Singh insisted that the party enjoyed broad public support and would reclaim power in the 2027 polls.
