Tamarhat: A 100 hours hunger strike has begun today at the Mahantpur Ashram under Tamarhat Police Station in Dhubri district, organized by the Hatidhura Block Committee of the Kamtapur State Demand Council. The Council has undertaken this 100 hours hunger strike programme demanding the re-establishment of the historic Kamtapur state, initiation of tripartite peace talks with KLO chairman Jibon Singha and DL Koch, granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Koch-Rajbongshi community, and inclusion of the Rajbanshi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Under the initiative of the Hatidhura Block Committee of the Kamtapur State Demand Council, workers and supporters of the Council gathered today at the Mahantpur Ashram in Tamarhat and commenced the 100 hours hunger strike from 11 AM.
The demonstrators raised various protest slogans such as “We Want Kamtapur”, “No Kamtapur, No Rest”, “No ST, No Rest”, “Hold peace talks with Jibon Singha and DL Koch immediately”, “Jibon Singha Long Live”, “Long Live DL Koch”, “KSDC Long Live”, filling the environment with the sound of agitation.
